Birth to Three came plus some cool hair ideas.

So my motherly intuition has been telling me for months now that Red is behind with his speech.  Its really hard to tell at this age though because 1. speech is just starting.  2. boys tend to be late bloomers in this area. 3. I'll admit it, I'm a little neurotic at times and might over-worry myself as a first-time mom!

Many people told me not to worry and they didn't think Birth to Three would qualify him for services.  Well, this morning they came and sure enough he is 2 standard deviations behind the normal and definitely qualifies for speech therapy.  I'm so happy Randy made it a priority to be here for today's appointment because he really helped remember certain things that I couldn't think of when they ask you a million questions about your child's behavior.

Red has many strengths, including fine and gross motor skills.  He's a champion sleeper and generally a happy boy but his sensory-seeking behaviors seem to be causing him frustration and the Speech Therapist, who also happens to be a feeding specialist, said that if we work on his feeding along with speech, his verbal expression will likely improve.  I'm SO EXCITED!

It seems weird that I'm so excited to have this help, but I'm just anxious to get professional 1 on 1  therapy for Red on a bi-weekly basis for the next year of services.  I hope to gain some tools that I can use to help foster his verbal expression development.

Next topic - HAIR! I have been a Pinterst addict lately.  There are so many great ideas for recipes, crafts, design, hair & makeup, etc.  Randy has been the happy recipient of many new  yummy meals now that Pinterest has entered my life.  :)

So one of the blogs I found via Pinterest was a hairstyle blog from a  professional hairstylist:  http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com

She recommended a few of her daily products she can't live without so I decided to give 2 of them a try and they're AWESOME!  I use both in my hair yesterday and today I woke up and my hair still looked fabulous, didn't even have to re-wash it. :)

The first is Kenra Volume 25 Hairspray - it has a really gentle mist but packs a powerful punch so you don't need a lot at all  - I life 3 or 4 layers of hair going down from my part-line and spray it in to add some volume.

The next is Aquage Uplifting Foam.  You spray it into your wet hair's roots and then style as usual.  I found it funny that when I went onto Amazon to order these, Amazon actually suggested the Aquage after I searched for Kenra.  I wonder if a lot of people who read this girls' blog have been ordering these two together!
