This past week has been a fun one! My brother, York, came to visit with his beautiful wife and family. We haven't seen York in a LONG time and had not met their two youngest girls, Rubi & Saada. It was an awfully rainy week but we had fun playing the Wii, going to Jump Zone in Canton, making pizza and just hanging out. Here are some of my favorite pics:

Xan is UNBELIEVABLY good at piano, after just a few months of lessons! |
 |
Rubi is such a princess who melts you with her smile, even when she's making trouble! |
 |
This was the first day we tried to get the two babies in a photo: they weren't too crazy about sharing their toys! |
 |
Second photoshoot with the babies yielded just one decent picture of the two of them. :) |
 |
Family picture right before they departed. |
 |
LOVE these boys! Xan and Tiago are sooo well-mannered and obedient to their parents. REALLY great kids. :) |
 |
Big Brother, Little Sister. |
 |
Talcott really enjoyed all the attention from the kids (since Heaven knows he's not getting much from me these days!) And we were pleasantly surprised at how well he behaved with them. :) |
 |
There was a lot of Wii playing happening - the boys kept asking if they could play "Super Mario BROS" (they didn't get that Bro's was short for Brothers - hehehehehe. :) |
 |
Rubi: the budding photographer - there's a huge screen on that digital camera but she puts her eye up to it like she's got to look thru the viewfinder - lots of pictures of the floor and people's pants ensued, not too many faces. :) |

She is so beautiful! Such a great mix of her mom and dad. |
My birthday was on Easter this year, that's a first. So Randy's mom and dad came to play with Red on Saturday night and after I put him to sleep, they graciously stayed to keep an eye on him while we went to dinner at Barcelona with Ryan and Megan, who were in town. We had 9 or 10 different tapas and they were DELICIOUS. The bread there is AMAZING, super crusty on the outside and soft and warm in the middle - YUM!!!

Then on Easter, we went to the Cassotto residence in Winsted and enjoyed some family time, complete with Nana's lasagna, a big ham and a dessert spread the size of Texas. Needless to say, I have been eating chocolate cake all day today. Speaking of chocolate cake, I just want to share how sweet my husband is. He secretly contacted my mom for the recipe to her Decadent Chocolate Bundt Cake and tole me he was going to his parent's house Saturday morning to help his mom set up for Easter when really he was going over there to make the cake for me for the next day. It turned out REALLY good and I loved it. He also wrote me a really cool card with the top 10 reasons he loves me - a card I will keep and cherish. Here are some of my favorite reasons he loves me:
- You're gorgeous and a hot mama
- You make me feel like I can do most anything when I put my mind to something and you have no problem telling me or others how proud of me you are
- You're THE BEST cook
So Randy baked me a chocolate cake, wrote me an amazing card and also bought me TURBO FIRE! In case you haven't been watching Infomercials in the middle of the night, Turbo Fire is an intensive exercise program you can buy. There's 15 dvd's and they're so fun - there's a whole schedule and I've only done 3 or 4 of them so far, but the workouts are awesome, and completely centered around the music so they're really dancy and make you burn tons of calories. And best of all, I can do it while Red sleeps and feel like I got a great workout in. Hopefully I can keep up this momentum since I"m dawning a swimsuit in 3 weeks for the first time since I've had a post-baby body. Eeeeek.....
GO RANDY, you're the best hubs and you did an AMAZING job on all the birthday fun. :)
Last but not least, I thought I'd share a funny mommy experience. Some moms have told me this would happen but for some reason I didn't think it really would. I was giving Red a bath at the Cassotto's last night (Easter) when suddenly he looked up at me from inside the tub, grimaced really hard and before I could say, "NOOOOOOO - don't do it!" , he had popped out a bowel movement. YUP, right there in my in-laws' tub. I was mortified. Of course Red was happier than a clam about this event and just carried on with this bath as though nothing had happened. Right then, Randy's cousin Megan came in to help her son use the bathroom and I was kind of shrieking in terror about what had literally JUST occurred so then the whole house knew what happened and it kind of became the joke that Red "christened the Cassotto's tub". hahaha, oh well. Good thing God created BLEACH. Well, maybe not GOD, but somebody invented it and that's all I care about! :)
Lastly, here are some recent pics we like:

Easter morning - couldn't find his seersucker jacket and tie so settled on a popped collar and elephant baby shoes that he just wanted to suck on, not wear. :) |

Our lovey. |

Eggs in their nests - cupcakes I made for Easter. |
Saren,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your family update. Red is adorable and always seems to be smiling. Being such great parents is already paying off.
